Hanh founded BUYO with the aspiration to find a radical solution to the plastic crisis. Prior to BUYO, she served as Director at Esquel Group - one of the global leading apparel and textile manufacturers, leading various business functions (business development, strategy, finance, human resources, government affairs and retail). Prior to joining Esquel, Hanh was the Country Representative of the Asia Competitiveness Institute (National University of Singapore) in Vietnam where she worked in affiliation with the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness (Harvard Business School) on enhancing competitiveness in the region. In her earlier career, Hanh was the Chief Representative of Viet Capital Asset Management and the Economic Growth Specialist at USAID Vietnam. Hanh has also been advising corporates and organizations on strategy, innovation and business restructuring, and published on the subjects of national and corporate strategy, competitiveness, innovation, industrial policy.
Thu is a Senior Research Associate and Research Manager in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry at the University of Toronto. He is also a Co-founder and CSO of YZymes, a startup in Toronto, which applies engineered enzymes to convert under-utilized agriculture and forestry biomass to biochemicals. He received a Master of Biotechnology from Flinders University, a PhD in Environmental Toxicology from Cornell University, and a certificate of project management from the University of Toronto. He has filed four patent applications and published 35 peer-reviewed papers, mainly on protein engineering and biomass modification.
Concurrently, Hoa serves as a consultant for the International Financial Corporation (IFC)/World Bank Group, supporting the banks and private sector on climate finance and green economy. She is active also in fields of Environmental Quality Management and Plastics Pollution Reduction, being a technical consultant for various donor funded projects in Vietnam. She used to serve as the Environmental and Climate Change Technical Specialist to Global Affairs Canada and as the Program Manager/Policy Analyst for the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), a leading US-based Environmental Organization, seeding the very first climate change mitigation project on rice paddy in the Mekong Delta. She holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, USA and a Master in Applied Environmental Geosciences from the University of Tuebingen, Germany. She received a BS in Chemical Engineering from Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Vietnam.
Linh is the founder and CEO of flextrapower, a startup company in New York City, NY, which focuses on applying the science of graphene in everyday use with the vision to sense the invisible and enable every human to live a healthier life. Linh Le is a chemical engineer by training, a PhD (ABD) from Stevens Institute of Technology; he has published multiple papers, international conference proceedings. He currently holds eight patents worldwide and is an active investor, mentor and advisor for startups in the field. Most recently, he was appointed as a founding member of the Commercialization Advisory Board for NanoMedicine Innovation Network Canada. Prior to that, he received his MS in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University and BS in Chemistry from Vietnam National University.
Hieu received his Bachelor degree and Master degree, both in Chemical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. He also had 4 years of experience, working in a manufacturing plant as Production Engineer for The Dow Chemical Company. With BUYO team, Hieu’s role is Technical and Operation Engineering, supporting Technology and Operation team in R&D, Product development, Quality control, Operation management and Process engineering.
Son graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Sciences with a bachelor's degree in Materials Science and Technology. He also has a year of sales engineering experience, where he oversaw thermal analysis. Son serves as a technician at BUYO in the areas of machinery operation, manufacturing process management, worker safety, and warehouse management.
Trang received her Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from Ho Chi Minh City University of Science. Previously, she has interned at the Division of Microbial Biotechnology, Biotechnology Center of Ho Chi Minh City. At BUYO, Trang is an operations technician, responsible for operating the production system, wastewater treatment system, supporting production documentation, conducting research and development, and manufacturing products.
Hieu received his bachelor's degree in Materials Science and Technology from Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Sciences. He has about 1 year of experience as a researcher and development officer. With BUYO, Hieu's role is to support R&D and product production.
Hoang has nearly 10 years experience of Production Management in Textile and Leather Industry. He received his Bachelor and Master degree in Chemical Engineering from Ho Chi Minh University of Technology. At BUYO, Hoang takes the role of COO, participating in factory set-up and production, and supply chain management.
Khanh earned his BA's degree in Business Information System from RMIT, with several years in the US as well. He has had 14+ years of professional experience across marketing, ecom, and tech. Since 2015, he has founded 1 startup and joined 5 others during early stages as a core team member, mostly in charge of operation, strategy, and fundraising.
Chi received her Bachelor degree in Global Environmental Studies at Clark University. She has had over 5 years of experience with general administration for different NGOs and start-ups in Vietnam. At BUYO, she will help with accounting, HR administration and supply chain management as well.
